The point of departure in the design of Kavika’s edge traps 9059 and 9059V was to improve accessibility in everyday living environments.
Together with the threshold trap 9057, the edge trap forms an accessible combination at floor level, which makes it easier for a disabled person to move around and improves safety in the use of technical aids.
Edge traps are highly suitable for creating accessible wet areas for inhabitants with functional limitations in modern sheltered housing settings (e.g. according to Väinö Korpinen Oy’s Gaius bathroom solution models). Potential applications include nursing homes and individual apartments, community homes and apartment groups designed for people with functional limitations, for example according to the housing network model developed by the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA). The low structure of the edge traps makes them highly suitable for wet areas of all kinds both in new construction and renovation projects.
The edge trap 9059 is equipped with a waterless trap and the edge trap 9059V with a floor drain trap fitted with a water seal.
